Angela Merkel Arrives at the European Council Summit - October 2012
German Chancellor Angela Merkel's arrival and doorstep interview at the October 2012 European Council Summit. Merkel said that no decisions will be made at the summit, but the European heads of state will discuss developments on monetary and economic union.
"During our regular October Summit we want to discuss developments on monetary and economic union. Part of these discussions is also the banking supervisory mechanism that has already been prepared by finance ministers. We want to stress that we want to work really quickly and in depth. Secondly, it will be about closer economic coordination, particularly in the Eurozone. Thirdly, it will be about fiscal cooperation and fourthly, on democratic legitimization that could concern our national parliaments, as well as the European Parliament. There will be no decisions during this Summit, we prepare the decisions for December and we have to put things on the right track first."
