The book describes the present legal status of European sport in the post-Bosman era and analyses the possible legal consequences of the European Union’s strong political support of the unique mix of amateurism and professionalism in the European Model of Sport in a time of increasing commercialization where « the winner takes all » mentality seems to be prevailing.
The sports article in the new EU Constitution may be a tool in the future to regulate sport on a more solid legal platform, but the wording of the new article makes it indeed very doubtful how far EU may go to preserve the traditional European Model of Sport. «
